Real Seeds
I'm using seeds from Real Seeds in my kitchen garden again this year, because i've always had good results from them. This range suits all growers. Here you'll find a mix of familiar crops alongside some more interesting varieties. They fit well with the way I garden, and work reliably on my plot.
My 2026 Seed Selection
Long leeks with blue-grey leaves. Hardy and very cold-resistant, it turns darker after frost.
A good one for standing overwinter even in atrocious weather.
- Late, for winter/spring harvest.
Black Beauty is a modern early aubergine that produces really fat fruit on nice sturdy plants.
Pear-shaped fat black fat fruit.
The name means "Bloody". Good traditional, deep blood-red beetroot, this is the one.
Large conical roots, with intense red flesh, very juicy and sweet.
Very large conical roots. Tender, no woodiness. Deep red.
This is an amazing knobbly yellow squash, with bulbous fruit and a curved neck
Although botanically a 'squash' it is always picked young as baby fruit, sliced whole, & used just like a courgette - with a great nutty flavour.
Very productive.
Good for early cropping and home growing.
Very quick-growing plants that soon set large numbers of impressively long (30cm +), slightly ridged green cucumbers.
This fantastic lettuce has crisp iceberg leaves in a loose rosette, with spiky, toothed edges.
Excellent as a normal summer lettuce, but also it is very resistant to both disease and cold weather, in the photo you can see a closeup of it covered in snow in our garden!

A very well known traditional parsnip variety making large, strongly-flavoured conical white roots
First roots ready from late August onwards,
This is an excellent real variety of sweetcorn. It is widely adapted, and adaptable to future change in climate or soil.
It is a modern variety, with both white and yellow kernels on each sweet cob.
Early and tasty.
